Aramis Ramirez loves cocks

I'm talking about his fighting roosters, you sickos. Aramis, predictably, argues that this is part of his culture and that he doesn't want to talk about it. Well, cock fighting may be just dandy in the Dominican Republic (as evidenced by the video clip of Pedro Martinez, below), but animal cruelty -- other than horse/dog-racing, slaughterhouses, or rodeos -- typically doesn't go over well here in the States. Hmm, on second thought, maybe it's just dog fighting we care about.

From a fantasy standpoint, I'm more concerned that Aramis was "totally dedicated" to his chickens rather than rehabbing his knee or losing weight. This will likely be an annoying distraction all year, and not just in regards to Aramis. Be prepared for a wave of reports involving Dominican ballplayers, since apparently the "sport" is quite popular in the D-Republic. Cock fighting magazines? Really? I've got to find myself a fantasy cock fighting league, because if there's a magazine, there's rotisserie geeks out there somewhere.

Also, since when did "it's part of our culture" become a socially acceptable defense of one's conduct?
