Not cool, Jose

Jose Reyes got caught stealing in the first inning of tonight's Pirates-Mets game by Ronny Friggin' Paulino of all people. This season, Reyes has now been thrown out three times in eight stolen-base attempts (or 27 percent of the time). Both last year and the year before, he was only thrown out 21 percent of the time. So the percentage is up a bit this year. Has he lost a step or is the sample size too small to worry about yet? Probably the latter. Still ... Ronny Paulino?!

UPDATE: He did successfully steal a base later in the game to improve that percentage, although I'm not sure we can count "not getting thrown out twice by Ronny Paulino" as a win.
