Prospect Watch: Max Scherzer

In addition to the ridiculous overload of consonants in his last name, Max Scherzer is memorable for his insane run of minor-league success. He struck out 11 a few days back in five scoreless innins in AAA Tucson. In 17 innings thus far, he's struck out 29 and only walked 3, while allowing no earned runs.

I'm not a big rookie phenom lover, but he's a guy I'll pick up immediately. Whether he ends up closing or starting down the road, that kind of K ratio has me salivating.

The A's Trevor Cahill is also on fire in the AAA california league.

Thanks for the heads up. I remember thinking he wouldn't be called up this year, though. I must investigate.
