Line of the Day: Dan Haren

Consider this icing on the cake that was a pretty great year from Dan Haren.

Dan Haren: 9 IP, 4 hits, o ER 2 BB, 12 K for the W

It was his first career shutout.

Too bad he and Webb aren't going to be in the playoffs this year. The rest of the team has pooped in their collective pants and wasted 400+ finely pitched innings. Stupid-ass Josh Byrnes, first he gives away Carlos Quentin so he can bring back Career Year Hairdo Boy. Then, trading for Dunn would have been a decent move if the rest of the team didn't strike out so damn much. Didn't they have enough in their minor league pipeline to rent Crazy Manny for a half season? I know they sold the farm to get Haren, but the Dodgers didn't give up that much and look what the result was...

That being said, if I'm the Cubs, I'm really happy about this set of developments. I'd much rather play the Mets or Dodgers in the first round any day of the week.

Dumping Carlos Quentin was probably the single stupidest move committed this offseason. (Although I suppose it's possible Quentin NEEDED a change of scenery to blossom into a HR/RBI machine of a butterfly.)

Agreed, especially when it was combined with that idiotic contract for Byrnes, then another idiotic contract for Krispie Young. And I'm hearing rumbles that they are tiring quickly of Krispie's act. They've locked up that outfield for a while now, too. Outstanding....

Let me know if I am wrong, but wasn't Quentin their organization's best OF prospect going into last year? I drafted him in a keeper league draft last year based on that information. Way to go Kenny, keep calling them D-Backs, maybe they'll re-sign Orlando Hudson and flip him for Jose Contreras :)
